How do VIP tickets work?

Postby jessme101 » Sat Jul 11, 2009 9:50 am

So after seeing DM 6 times I have FINALLY pulled off enough ass kissing to get one of my connections to pull through, and GOT VIP TICKETS!!!!!

Can you tell I'm excited? The thing is I am clueless as to how it works. I had to fax the tour manager some personal information and was told to wait. I will be notified one week before my venue as to my tickets...my what tickets? Will these just be fantastic seats? Will I even have seats to sit in or just the ability to wander around? A friend in the music industry said It will prob have limited backstage (more than likely not around the band) with the slight chance of a meet and greet. Does anyone have any idea how this works?
I have back up seats just in case, and subsequently extra tickets to the show now (Seattle..anyone interested 6th row? :)) because waiting until one week before the show seems to risky.

A simple VIP ticket is not much. Maybe theres a VIP sector with a better view, or free drinks and that's all. But u need more exclusivepasses to get to the backstage area.
I just told the hungarian meanings of a VIP ticket. Which is ridiculous:)
Maybe there's another ways how VIP working in your area...i dont know.

Maybe these are seats in a special area with record company people and media people etc.? They probably have a good view - but not necessarily close to the stage. Drinks and snacks might be included (if they are like the VIP tickets you can buy for the DM concert in Antwerp).

Maybe you would prefer being down on the 6th row - much closer to the band and surrounded by fans?

if they are tix from the record company, they are just industry seats in a decent section close to the stage, not on the floor though.

you'll be sitting with industry people who won't be interested in the show, they'll end up sitting and talking and texting all night and not really taking it in. trust me on this, my ex worked in the "industry" and we got tix all the time and these people are only there to be seen and socialize.

you may be invited to a meet and greet, but they are rare now. they are usually quick band intros with a few pics and then you are all wisked back into the arena. they aren't very personal and you don't have a chance to really talk to the bands for long.

if your tix are 6th row on the floor...keep them, they are better then what you'll get given to you.

You probably have a VIP aka "after show" pass. that could be good, or it could be nothing. it depends. You will get to go to a certain area probably after the show, and probably mingle with other fans and *maybe* a couple band members. if the venue is seated (which I'm assuming it is) you will have seats, though if you have 6th row I would hang onto those. The sooner you can pick up your new tickets the better!

I'd suggest selling your Row 6 tickets. To me. :D

I've got row 8 (BB section aka Martin's side, which is what I want), but hey if you're gonna sell, I'll buy and sell mine to someone else. :D ;)

PS: Seriously though, I wouldn't part with the Row 6 tickets just yet.;) Call Key Arena and find out where the VIPs will be seated.

VIP tix are usually crap.

I get vip tix and suites (sadly, none on this tour) and let me tell you, they are never good seats. On the off chance that they are, the vip section is filled with posers or if it's a suite they are filled with people that have no interest in the band/singer and are just there to take up space and be seen. Typically they will be just talking or txting away.

Unless you know the band or have a friend that does (and i'm not talking about your friends, sisters room mate from college) you're not getting anything truly special.
