Default Ideal 2013/14 Tour (not venues or just set list)

Thinking out loud I but I'd like to see the return of:

1) A PROPER intro, circa BC /Masses tours. This was always brilliant, memorable and I knew I was at a 'Depeche Mode' gig.
2) Metal clanging circa 83-88 ..MFTM 'Stripped' etc. The whole 'found sounds' thing. Brilliant...
3) Just keyboards for some... Send Eigner off stage now and again, Martin not on the guitar all the time.

Set list...

I don't think they can drop
Never Let Me Down Again
World in my Eyes
Enjoy the Silence
Personal Jesus

but I'd LOVE to see them drop
Precious,
It's No Good and
Policy of Truth
and I reckon they could drop
In Your Room,
It's No Good,
I Feel You
(maybe) Walking in my Shoes
to leave a bit of space for more of the new album and a couple of strong older album tracks like Told You So and If You Want.

Sorry "it's no good" is in there twice... It's one I reckon they could drop, not that I'd like to see them drop

What you'll actually get....

the same standard setlist, from the same touring band, played in more or less the same way they've been doing it since 1998.

Completely agree. I would be very surprised if they deviated from the same touring line up and core set list since 1998. They seem intent on having an increasingly more "organic" live sound with each tour. I think I heard Dave indicate in a recent interview that the new album was recorded with more organic "live performance" in mind.

I don't mind. If that's what keeps them motivated to continue recording and touring, then it's fine with me.

Would like to see some old sing-along favorites like JCGE and Everything Counts brought back to the set list. Strangelove sounded great during the last tour too.

I think there are just three songs that should never be dropped and they are NLMDA, ETS and PJ. Sadly, Dave likes I Feel You so I guess that is going to stay.

I too hope they drop Precious, a song that simply doesn't work live.

Overall, want to hear more new songs at all the shows, not play once or twice then drop them or have rotating new songs from show to show. Keep it more interesting and unpredictable for the audience.

Agree with all of the above, it's become depressingly predictable over the last decade or so, it's like they dont have confidence in any new album material at all and just fall back on the singles.

Smile

I'd love it if they would play some tracks from their first few albums

Shout
Puppets
Sun and The Rainfall
More Than A Party
Told You So
Lie To Me
If You Want

Any of those would make me happy

Oh yes that's a great song.

Two Minute Warning is another song I wish they'd play

Cool What do you want to see on the Delta Machine Tour?

There are some threads regarding the setlist but not so much regarding what we want to see.

This is is what I think would be fun to see on the upcoming shows:

*Curtains on the intro.

*The stage in at least two levels with Peter and Christian in the upper one with stairs on both sides so that Dave can run up and down to them sometimes.

*The guys should be dressed in black suites and white shirt like in the album photos.

*Big screens behind the stage as usual, smaller ones in front of second level (Devotional).

*Two catwalks used more often by both Dave and Martin.

*Dave play acustic guitar on one Martin song.

*Curtains before encore. Then a smaller stage set in the front, something like Dave did on Paper Monsters. Now they play some classics and old ones in other clothes (black leather etc).

So give me your ideas and wishes!
