Quite a fair review overall. If she's not a fa herself, she's well up on her research.

The bleak power of Precious swept the house away, despite its lyrics being scrolled down a screen, where we could fully contemplate its teenage self-absorption ("I can no longer call myself a man, woman, angel or even pure soul")

This proves she's not a fan. The review is fair, nothing ecstatic but....

playing a set that omits most of the big hits. It didn't matter

...not so sure about that....

Gahan, in remarkably good shape after recovering from bladder cancer,

I didn't know it was a cancer, there was only rumours....

Dave Gahan introduced guitarist Martin Gore with "Ladies and gentlemen, Jay-Z!"

maybe it was funny in B'gham but when he repeated it on the first night in London I just thought he could've been more creative

It was a cancerous tumour. No rumours.

Well, looks like I was behind in this topic. Thanks God he's got out of it again.

I read this earlier and pretty much straight away spotted those things! The set was jam packed with their big hits, what else would she call 60% of the setlist?

Also, the comment about the crowds age seemed a bit odd, I was surrounded by plenty of people a bit older than me, I'm 30, these people would have excellent memories of Violator & SOFAD and a good few seemed plenty old enough to have been fans for longer than that.

I don't mind whether they like the show or not, but it does annoy me that they say things that are so blatently rubbish! No wonder I never believe a review, far better to go and see for yourself.

Ok, an overall positive review, but as mentioned above, several points in this short article, that show, she has no real clou about what and whom she is writing. The name Hafiz doesn't mean anything to you, does it?

A pity people get paid for this kind of unsolid work!

The writer of this review is the same woman who described and lambasted DM in her review of Shake the Disease in 1985 as a football chant written by sensitive wimps.. or words to that effect. Those with the first edition of the Singles 1981-1985 will see the quote in the sleeve notes. It good to see even the sceptics such as her changing her tune after all these years!!

(the words were taken from a poem (not the lyrics to the track), the name and author were the sign of for the projection)

...not so sure about that....

(Either I was at a different gig, or 75% of the set was made up of singles from 86 onwards)

Well, yes. This the impression I got after reading this article. I had to think twice before I understood she must've seen a different show since all of that in O2 show was the same as in Birmingham.
