How far is it from the LG arena to the afterparty ? Is it best to get a taxi or is public transport easy ? Is anyone else from the board going ?
Anyhow that is Birmingham and Manchester after parties sorted. I may give the midweek London ones a miss as I am going to both London concerts and do not think my brain will be able to handle so much in one week
Hi DD, it's 11 miles approx' from lg arena to eddies bar, you might find other members that are willing to share taxis if they're going to aftershow, failing that the train's the next best option, station's 2 mins from arena, £2.40 to new st, depending on time of gig finishing there are 7 trains from 10.30pm 'till last train at 12.10am. From new st eddies bar is about 5/10 mins walk. I reckon a taxi back to your hotel if it's near lg arena will cost around £15/ £20. Hope that info's of use to you DD!

Oh, & train journey takes about 10 mins!
Oh & just an update, i'm glad an aftershow has now been arranged for brum, i tried numerous boozers, nearly all were happy to host, but were'nt prepared to give a definite finish time (sunday hours).
DD, have you booked & paid for your room at hotel yet? if you havent, you can probably cancel booking, then find an alternative hotel that's inbetween the " or nearer the aftershow?

Thanks for the info mate. Sadly I booked into the Ibis hotel and took the option of a cheaper room but not able to cancel Nevermind it is all swings and roundabouts)
Anyhow afterparty sortedjust need to find a pre-drink meet up place. What would be your suggestion (anywhere near or at the arena )
Thanks again.

Default aftershow birmingham

Alrite DD, i know the arena itself has had an uplift & extensive work has been done on it & i believe it has a few more bars in there, but i could'nt tell you what they're like. There is a bar upstairs next to train station but that's not much cop & can be quite cold as it's (or was) open plan.
As a stand alone venue, it's very limited for bars etc.. shit, in all honesty.
There's the city centre, but that's 11 miles though saying that, on a sunday it's only gonna take 20 mins in taxi, (£5 each if 4/5 share) 10 mins
0n train, & choice is endless for boozers for meetup.
There's solihull town centre which is about 6 miles from venue that has plenty of bars & places to grab some food, is nice & compact & real easy to get around + coupla £ cheaper in taxis to venue.
Personally, i would opt for solihull for the above reasons. If you ask me to reccommend a bar for pre-meet, i'd mention 3; The White Swan, The Hogshead, The Saddlers Arms. Prices for drinks are very decent & all do food, again at decent prices & all are 2 mins from taxi rank.
But again i'll state that's only my opinion. If any other 'brummie' members agree or have other ideas, get them posted, only a month now!

I second the Saddlers Arms, Hogshead is too dear, White Swan is fine too. I live 5 mins walk from Solihull Centre so if anyone's meeting up there pre gig I'm 100% there.

Cheers for the suggestions....I guess we need more input from who else is going. I am happy to be anywhere the majority of board members will be.
Slightly off topic. What is the Rum Runner club now in Brum (the place where Duran Duran started)
Just interested if anyone knows

Damn, wish there was an edit button- I meant to say I really do recommend the Saddlers Arms, nice pub, covered heated smoking area out back, and cheap but good food. I'd rather not go the Wetherspoons, it's just not as comfortable in there (bear in mind I live 5 mins away so I am always in the Saddler's Arms)
