Talking about 80's, 90's and 2000's fans, it makes sense that the 90's fans like better Ultra, and 2000's (I include myself in this group) like better SOTU, maybe it has something to do with a nostalgic feeling. I'm not sre about that it's just an idea.

i`ve been a fan since the 80`s and have enjoyed each and every album as they`ve come out , some maybe take longer to enjoy than others but come to the same outcome at the end of the day a great band

I think Ultra is better. It's like Martin got something in that period, the songs are very unique. I don't think how much the press loved it matters. From the comercial side Ultra is better. But I also think that musically Ultra is better. Songs like Come back and Peace worked better live. At the begining many people didn't like those 2. Maybe if Ultra had a tour some songs would have changed their direction to.
Anyway...I stick to my point: 1 vote for Ultra

Hmmm. Could you please respect others and their opinions? If you disagree it's ok, but bashing others (1) doesn't help discussion and (2) takes credibility away from your arguments no matter how good they are.

I wasn't addressing anyone specifically. Otherwise I would have quoted you like I'm doing now.

sorry if I offended anyone....offcourse itīs MY PERSONAL OPINION and not a "fact" as I staded it... I always get carried away a bit when it comes to Dave and songwriting....he,he,he....I truly respect other peoples opinions in this matter.
merry x-mas everyone! and now over to some serious SOTU listening to see if Dave improves on me this time....(not likely but what the heck!)

I love ULTRA. But this love grew through the years after its release.
SOTU still has to grow in me. I like it.
I do agree some songs start strong and then fade (Precious, Peace), but not the rest of them.
I like In Chains, Wrong, Hole to Feed, Fragile Tension, In Sympathy, Come Back and Corrupt. The others I like them too, but not so much.
