Recently I've been listening to my DM singles. Now I accept that 7" singles should be 45rpm unless they are an e.p. and need to be 33rpm to fit the extra tracks on. My problem is with 12" singles which used to be 45rpm but are now often 33rpm. To change the speed on my turntable I have to lift the platter and move the belt by hand. It isn't difficult but becomes a pain after a while. Especially because recently Mute/EMI seem to have become a bit random in their choice of speed. One single from an album will be 45rpm and the next 33rpm and then 45rpm again. The most annoying are the remixes 04 singles which are 45rpm on the A side and 33rpm on the B side.

So I have a request. In the future can we have 7" singles as 45rpm and 12" singles as 33rpm?

What does anyone else think?

They really nailed the intro with this one for me. NLMDA is pretty classic especailly as the guitar riff was a computer timing error and should have started after the drums according to Dave Bascombe.Higher Love is not one of my best tunes but the intro always makes me feel moved and reminds me of the Crystal Palace one off show they played , but my overall favourite intro is Clean...dark, sonically beautiful and always makes me think of Alan.

I am probably wrong but I never hear much mention by the band or fans in general of one of my absolute favourite Depeche Mode songs ever BOAG.
Apart from having a killer bassline/groove and tune it really was one of the most striking songs to return with after such a long time and with Anton's powerful video accompanying it it never fails to blow me away and send real shivers down my spine.
The scene where Mart and Andy are asleep at the table reflecting Dave's long abscence and inner turmoil through the previous few years (according to Anton), it really emphasises the bands struggle and their strength in returning as a unit again. It always moves me.
Next to ETS it has to be the greatest, most innovative song they have recorded. It is also the bands highest U.K chart position to date at an awesome No.3 but never gets played on U.K radio or T.V. Is such a great song forgotten so quickly?
I just wanted to hear what fans still feel about the song.
Sad also that it never gets played live. Why? Do the band not rate it?
If and when DM return I hope and pray they come back with songs as weighty and dark as this. Its definitive Depeche.
